Maggie Valley - Kathleen Thomas Davis, 72, of Julia Lane, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003.

A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Ashe and Birdie Birchfield Thomas. She was an active member of Waynesville Christian Fellowship Church and Haywood County Christian Women's Club. In her early years, she taught business in Garner High School. She also taught Bible stories throughout Haywood County schools for 17 years and in Haywood County nursing homes for over 20 years. She was a wonderful wife, wonderful mother and servant of the Lord.

She is survived by her husband of more than 50 years, Clayton Davis; son, Stephen Davis and his wife, Melisa, of Waynesville; three daughters, Sharon Watson and her husband, Jonathan, of Atlanta, Debbie Edwards and her husband, Grant, and Rebecca Edwards and her husband, Gregg, of Fayetteville; foster son, Pedro Fuentes and his wife, Betty, of Inverness, Fla.; and eight grandchildren, Nathan, David, Anna, Zachary and Logan Edwards, Leah Davis, Yvette Fuentes and Juan Carlos Fuentes.

The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Waynesville Christian Fellowship Church with Mr. Phillip Morgan and sons-in-law, Gregg and Grant Edwards and Jonathan Watson officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park
