ALFRED GIESKE FUNERAL HELD HERE SUNDAY
Alfred William Gieske, 74, a resident of Electra for 14 years died Friday, December 20 at his home.
Services were Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the James B. Totten and Son Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gilbert Franke, pastor of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Harrold, officiating. Interment was in Old Electra Cemetery.
Born May 13, 1900 in Catonsville, Maryland, he was a retired farmer and had been a ham radio operator for 64 years. A member of the Quarter Century Wireless Association, his call letters were W5WS.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth of the home, two sons, Ernie D. Brown of Minden, Louisiana and Bert Brown of San Antonio; one daughter, Mrs. Jeanie Zerkie of Vista, California; a niece, Mrs. Elsie Terrell of Spring Valley, California, five grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
