George served in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S Shubrick which was attacked by enemy aircraft and received extensive damage. He spent his last several years creating the award-winning website, www.ussshubrick.com, documenting the historic event. George married the love of his life, Ordell Lunden, in Long Beach, Calif., on October 12, 1946. They were married 58 years at the time of his death. He took delight in his family and was a loving husband, father, and grandpa. He will always be remembered for his love of life and his generosity. George died suddenly at his home at age 78.
