Mr Porter was well known by all the old timers, being well respected and universally liked. He married Miss Affie McMinn on July 1, 1843. He joined the Baptist Church, being a loyal member ever since. In 1869, he came to Texas, locating in this vicinity in 1891.
Funeral services were held at the home by Rev. Goodwin, assisted by Rev. Harris. He leaves an aged wife, 5 sons and 3 daughters.
