Word was received by Mrs. Ethel Tilden, Red Deer, Canada, that her father, Charles B. Briggs, died on May 31, at Portland, Oreon of valvular heart trouble, following a broken leg last winter. He was 67 years old. He was born April 26, 1843, in Sardinia, County New York, and was buried June 4, under the auspices and in the cemetery of the G.A.R. having served through the Civil War.
He was a resident of Red Oak, Ia and vicinity for a good many years, coming to Dixon 17 years ago. Living here until 2 years ago when he went to Portland on account of ill health. He is survived by three daughters, two sons and 5 grandchildren.
