George Howard Weatherford, 67, passed away June 14, 2007. Mr. Weatherford was a resident of Norfolk. He was a 1958 graduate of Maury High School. He is survived by his children, Michael Weatherford and his wife Amy of Virginia Beach, Michele "Mindy" Harding and her husband Earl of Richmond and Mitchell Weatherford and his wife Angelique of Virginia Beach; a brother, Harry L. Weatherford of Mustang, Okla.; two sisters, Sarah F. Clay of Las Vegas, Nev., and Linda S. Overton of Chesapeake; and five grandchildren, Joshua Harding, Zachary Harding, Anna Weatherford, Brandon Mayes and Andrew Mayes. Mr. Weatherford was preceded in death by his wife, Lelia Mae Weatherford. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by Dr. William Austin. Burial will follow in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. The children would like to extend a special thanks to Mr. Weatherford's sister, Linda for all the love and special care she gave him through his illness.
