Maxine E. Dueringer
Age 89, of Maple Park, IL, passed away Wednesday evening, June 6, 2007 at Kishwaukee Community Hospital, DeKalb, IL. She was born January 19, 1918, the daughter of Earl and Edna (nee Halverson) Tenny in Story City, IA.
When she was still very young, the family moved to Waterman for a time before spending her younger years living on what was known as the Klein Estate in Maple Park. She attended local schools including Bell School, a one room school house, and Hinckley High School. During those years Maxine kept herself busy doing housework was employed as well at Pinks Cleaners in Aurora. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Chester Dueringer.
Two hearts became one when Maxine and Chet were united in marriage on May 30, 1940 in Clinton, IA, and began their new life together in Aurora.
As the family grew, they moved to Maple Park in 1946. In 1953, both Chester and Maxine built the buildings and their new family business, Dueringer Service, where Chester continued to hone his skills as a mechanic until his retirement 1968. Maxine also worked for General Electric for many years, retiring in 1983.
Both Chet and Maxine were members of the Kane County Car Club which was founded in part by Chet.
She was also a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Maple Park, for many years.
Maxine was a loving wife and doting mother whose sole job above all else was to take care of her family. She also shared the joy of antique cars and was always by Chet's side when the family would go to local parades as part of the Kane County Car Club.
She now leaves her son, Ross Dueringer Sr. of Maple Park, IL; two grandchildren, Karen (David) Diehl of Sycamore, IL, Ross Dueringer Jr. of DeKalb, IL; four great grandchildren, Adam Diehl, Holly Diehl, Justin Dueringer and Emilee Dueringer; one sister, Marge Isenogle of Everett, WA; several nieces, nephews; one very special friend, Nancy Olsen; and "Spike The Cat" who was forever at her side.
She now joins her parents; and her loving husband, Chet who preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 11-1 PM at Grace United Methodist Church, 506 Willow St., Maple Park, on Saturday, June 9, 2007. A Funeral service to celebrate her life will be held following visitation at 1:30 PM. Rev. Mark Meyers, pastor of the church, will officiate and interment will follow at Pierce Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her name to benefit: Checks may be made to the "Maxine Dueringer Memorial" and mailed in care of P.O. Box 66, Elburn, IL 60119.
