He was the son of Joe and Thelma (Wooldridge) Grippando. He He retired from military service with the Oklahoma National Guard and from civilian service as a federally employed auto technician with the Oklahoma National Guard. Survivors include three daughters, Georgeann Cloud and husband, Larry, of McAlester, Gail Hamer and husband, Davey, of Westville, and Leann Bruce and husband, Terry, of Tulsa; grandchildren, Shyla Surginer, Bryan Cloud, Chad Prichard, Zachary and Shari Bledsoe, Tonya and Randal Smith, Mark and Taloa Rodriguez, Ashley and Justin Bixby, and Justina and Jeremy Broughton. Also, great-grandchildren, Cadyn and Kieara Surginer, Devon, Chase, Joshua and Tyler Smith, Treygan and Kasen Rodriguez, Keysha Bixby, Morgan and Kaleb Robinson and Jaidyn Bledsoe; brothers, Charles Grippando and wife, Wyna, Tom and Peggy Grippando, John David and Joyce Grippando, Carl and Sarah Grippando, and Jack Grippando. And, sisters, Sylvia Lewis, Jean and Bill Ferrell, Barbara Beall, Josephine Crystal, Dorothy and Ralph Byington, and Betty and Tom Madrigal; sisters-in-law, Margaret Grippando, and Bonnie Grippando; brother-in-law, Ronnie Ryan; aunt, Carol Durant and husband, Wallace, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Campbell) Grippando; son, Basil L. Grippando; grandchildren, Garrett Haggard, Nicholas and Brennan Rodriguez and Kadden Rodriguez; his parents, Joe and Thelma Grippando; in-laws, George and Ruth (Walker) Campbell, and brothers and sisters, Frank Grippando, John Grippando, Maxine Runyan, Burnice Lima, Rosie Grippando, Shirley Ryan, Paul Grippando and George Grippando. Pallbearers will be Don Hudson, Jerry London, Ralph Lalli, Wallace Durant, Curtis Parham and Bill Bailey. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Fields, Frank Marco, Ed Crawley, Grady Sharp, and Kenny Sherrill. Funeral services will be at 10 Thursday at Chaney's Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jody Domingue and the Rev. Don Russell officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery in McAlester. Military honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1098.
