HUMBOLDT UNION, APRIL 13, 1916

T. J. Alford passed away at his home in Leanna Tuesday. Thomas Jefferson Alford was born November 19, 1848, at Alfordsville, Davis county, Indiana, and finished this life April 11, 1916, being 67 years, 4 months and 22 days old. He was married to Martha A. Edwards January 19, 1879. To this union five children were born, 3 who are living: Miss Dosia at home, Mrs. Zelda Cation of Spencer, Iowa, and Mrs. Edna Martin of Texico, New Mexico, one child died in infancy and J. Barton, the only son, a graduate dentist on April 8, 1911. Mr. Alford is survived by his wife, also 2 brothers, A. W. and A. C. and one sister, Mrs. Missouri Hunter, of Chanute.
Brother Alford came into the Christian church early in life under his father's preaching, cherishing his memory as a man of abilityh and high ideals and after whose footsteps he followed, giving much of his time in the teaching of the scriptures.
Neighbor Alford had lived on the farm where he died 36 years last month. He was known as an honest man, a good neighbor, a successful homemaker and a Christian.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Saunders of Humboldt and interment in the Leanna cemetery.
