Martha H. BLESSING, 83, of Liberty, Mo., formerly of Huntingdon County, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, in LIberty, Mo. Born Aug. 2, 1918, in Mapleton, she was the second child of Clark N. and May (Robley)Harshbarger. She was united in marriage to Guy Blessing in 1939. He preceded her in death in 1976. She is survived by a daughter and a son: Bonnie Moore of Liberty, Mo., and Dr. Tim H. Blessing of Reading. Two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren survive. Two sisters and one brother survive: Ann Cooper of New Brighton, Marcia Brandenburg of Severn, Md., and the Rev. Edward Harshbarger of Emporium. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Dora Harshbarger; stepfather, George Buchanan, and by a brother and a sister, Arthur Harshbarger and Julia Hasson. Ms. Blessing was of the Protestant faith. Earlier in her life, she had attended the former Evangelical United Brethren Church in Mapleton. She was a graduate of Mount Union High School, Class of 1936. A professional interviewer, she worked as an
independent contractor for firms such as Research Triangle Institute, Gallup and the National Opinion Research Corporation. During her lifetime, she had resided in Utah and California and was a longtime resident of Tampa, Fla, having resided there for 42 years. She enjoyed nature and the outdoors. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m.
Saturday, May 25, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Mount Union. Interment will be made at 3 p.m. Friday in the Mount Union Cemetery.
