SWANTON -- A burial services was conducted for Freda E. Cassavoy on Thursday, June 7, 2001, in Swanton.

Freda, 91, died on Dec. 12, 2000 in West Springfield, Mass. Freda was a lifelong Swanton resident and was returned to be buried alongside her parents, William and Ruth (Tabor) Cassavoy and her brother, Valmore Cassavoy in the family lot at the Riverside Cemetery.

Freda was predeceased by her brothers, Howard "Buster" and Valmore Cassavoy, and a sister, Ruth (Cassavoy) Bernier. The graveside service was conducted by lay minister Madonna Vernal, a long time friend and former co-worker. Freda was a retiree from the Immigration and Naturalization Service. Freda lived for many years on Church Street and was very involved in the community. She always took great pleasure in gardening and caring for her cats. The burial service was attended by nieces and nephews, cousins from Massachusetts and Vermont, former INS co-workers, long time neighbors and many close friends.
