Mrs. Charlotte Tanner Stanley, 57, died Friday (May 5, 2006) at her residence following an extended illness.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Ware County. She was a daughter to the late Jack H. Shirey and Lorraine S. Helms Shirey. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Delmon A. Tanner, Sr.
She was a member of New Life Assembly of God and a former employee of Belk in Waycross. She was also past-president of the Waycross Woman's Club and past secretary of the Waycross Garden Club.
The survivors include her husband, Dale "Jim" Stanley of Waycross; her children, Berry Hampton Tanner (wife Jennifer) of Gainesville, FL, Teresa Tanner Payne (husband Bobby) of Nashville, TN, Edward Carlos Tanner (wife Ellen) of Macon, Delmon A. Tanner, Jr. of Waycross, Delama Tanner Lancaster (husband Kenny) of Pittsburgh, PA, and Diana Tanner Worley (husband Tony) of Waycross; seven grandchildren, Shae, Skylar, Tanner, Hamp, Jackson, Lauren, and Samantha; three step-sons, Shawn Stanley (wife Elaine) of Monroe, Jeff Stanley (wife Lynn) of Jacksonville, FL, and Dale Stanley, III (wife Sherrie) of Tokyo, Japan; seven step-grandchildren; two brothers, Sam McClellan (wife Janet) and Choya Shirey both of Waycross; three sisters, Jackie Walker (husband Doug), Toinyoual King (husband Billy), and Janice Perkins (husband Bobby) all of Waycross; a special friend, Millie DeShazo of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday (May 7, 2006) at New Life Assembly of God. Burial will follow in Jordan Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Music Funeral Home from 6 until 8 o'clock.
