She was born August 10, 1916 in Huntington, Utah, a daughter of Leonard and Ellen Holt Behunin. She was raised by her father and step-mother, Hazel Shepard Behunin, after the death of her mother when Ruby was four years old.

She married William Clarence Chesnut May 18, 1934 in Lyman, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple, May 19, 1953. He died December 16, 1972. She married Frank Sam Santell, October 17, 1974 in Richfield, Utah. He died August 7, 1984.

Ruby was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as a Primary Teacher, Relief Society Counselor and Teacher, Librarian, Visiting Teacher and various other callings. She loved to serve the Lord.

Ruby was very active for many years in the Torrey Town Beautification Program. She helped win the beautification award many times for Torrey Town.

Ruby loved the outdoors and gardening, especially her flower garden. She enjoyed doing handiwork and she was an excellent cook, and good friend and neighbor to everyone.

Ruby is survived by her son, Clay William and his wife, Donna Chesnut of Spanish Fork; daughters: Donna (Deceased) and John Schiwal of Rose Park; Ellen (Deceased) and Bill Rawlings of South Jordan; 12 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; brother: Melvin Behunin of San Bernardino, CA.
