ALBANY -- Bennie Viola Kenshalo Vick, age 83, of Albany, Texas passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas.
She was born on October 7, 1923 in Albany, Texas. She married Audie Lee Vick, he preceded her in death in 1967. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Albany, Texas. She was an LVN Nurse, trained in Stamford, Texas. She was a longtime employee of Shackelford County Hospital and many other hospitals. She was a graduate of Albany High School and a member of the Class of 1941. Bennie was also a member of the Albany Lioness Club and the Shackelford County Historical Society.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2007 at the First Christian Church in Albany with the Reverend Jim Hudson officiating. Interment will be in the Albany Cemetery under the care and direction of Godfrey - Neese Funeral Home. Mrs. Vick will lie in state at Godfrey - Neese Funeral Home until 11:30 a.m. Friday and then at the church until service time.
Survivors include: nephew, Charles Straughan and wife Joyce, of Lubbock, Texas; great niece, Bennie Parsons and Art Orozco of Midlothian, Texas; daughters, LaDonna Whitt and husband W. J. and Mariann Walshak and husband Charles; cousins, Lucille Brown, Howard Posey and wife, Nancy and Mildred Spurgin; grandhildren, Jay Whitt, Cindy Hassell, Mike Hassell; grandnices and grandnephews, Ruth Jean Thorpe, Shelby Austin Rogers, Stephanie Renee' Rogers, Tracy Straughan, and Clay Straughan and wife, Jessica; 5 great grandchildren; 12 great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by 5 sisters: Annie Lou Straughan, Mary Crawford, Edna Ashley, Ruby Meador, and Allee Duke Kenshalo Roberts.
