I have read many of your books, but your best is Death Comes for the Archbishop. It is my favorite American novel. I admire your talent and sensitivity. Thank you and God rest your soul.

Willa, You were somewhat plain in your appearance, but you had a beautiful soul, and you wrote the most heartfelt prose, and proved again that you cannot judge a book by its cover. Of all the things I have loved in life, good books are very high on that list, and "My Antonia" is my favorite. I have read it a dozen times, and never tire of its lovely story, so beautifully told. It touches my heart in the way that few other books ever have, and I have read thousands. I know it was your favorite, and it is mine too. A pity the world you describe, and its values, are gone now, replaced with so much vulgarity. You would not like it here, anymore than I do sometimes. But I can always go back, with your book. Rest well. You've earned it.

Dear Willa, I finished "My Antonia" and I wished Jim would have ended up with her and I thought it was sad how he pined so much for her! I am now reading "O Pioneers!"

I came across your grave on a beautiful hillside while on my honeymoon near Jaffrey, N.H. in 1983. I use your "O Pioneers" expression in many of my find a grave notes.

Ms. Bonnie Cather should be a very proud person for being the cousin of the most gifted author. I honor the memory of Willa Sibert Cather every day. Willa Cather was a marvelously sensitive writer. There are passages in "My Antonia" that will always make me cry. I would be remiss if I did not say that the novella, "Lucy Gayheart," is another wonderful story. May Willa Cather rest in peace.
