Edward Abbiehl, 88 years old, of 604 East Plymouth street, a lifelong resident of this community, died at his home early Monday morning, May 8, after an illness of several years. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Salem Evangelical United Brethren church.
Mr. Abbiehl was born in St. Joseph county February 10, 1873, the son of Christian and Anna (Stutter) Abbiehl. He was married to a Clara Loucks, who survives.
Surviving also are four daughters, Mrs. Edward Aker of R.R. 3, Bremen, Mrs. Owen Stine of Bremen, Mrs. Raymond Beyler of Lapaz, and Mrs. Irma Johnstone of Olympia Wash.; one brother, John Abbiehl of Elkhart; seventeen grandchildren; forty-six great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the Glant Funeral Chapel. Rev. Warren Manges, assisted by Rev. F. G. Kuebler, pastor of the Salem church, officiated in the services and burial was in the Bremen cemetery.
