Charles Porter Good's father was Albert Good (1843-1916) and his mother was Cordelia Ardukka Koontz (1855-1923.)
On the 1880 census he was living in Island City, Union, Oregon.
A SAD ACCIDENT OCCURED AT Mr. Al. Good's place, two miles north of town, Friday evening, resulting in the almost instant death of Charlie, the twelve-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Good.
The boy had arrived home with a load of lumber from the sawmill a few minutes ahead of his father, and saddled a horse preparatory to driving some cattle into a corral near the house. Other members of the family were out assisting him, and while riding near the fence a hog ran in front of the horse causing it to stumble and throwing the boy with his head against the fence, and in this position the horse fell upon him crushing his skull. The boy lived about twenty minutes after the fall. His sister Emma was holding him in her arms. The news of the sad catastrophe was received with the most profound regret, and deepest commiseration for the family under their heavy burden of sorrow, so suddenly inflicted. The boy would have been 13 years old Saturday, and Mr. Good had purchased a new saddle for the boy. The boy never saw it.
The funeral took place Sunday, the remains being interred in the Ackles cemetery. The funeral cortege exceed a mile in length, and attested the universal regret for the afflicted family.

On the headstone which is in Ackles Cemetery in La Grande, Union, Oregon is written: "Our precious boy to Heaven has gone From this vain world forevermore: When our battle's fought and victory won We'll meet him on that happy shore."
