Veteran of the 1st Div. of the US Army during World War II (The Big Red One). He was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Apple was retired as a machinist with Bates Systems, and was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. His favorite pastimes were gardening, hunting, and fishing, and he was once considered the best quail hunter in Rockingham Co.
