Maria was the 3rd of 10 children of Thomas Williams and Magdalena Yerian of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. She was baptized Lutheran as Anna Maria on August 21, 1785, in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, sponsors Nicholas and Anna Maria Keppel, her uncle and aunt.
She married in or before 1816 in Columbiana County, Ohio, to Christian Keener.
