He was the son of the late Joe Latimer and Mamie Emma Latimer. Joe Latimer was educated in the Public School System of Sparta, Georgia. In 1953, he and his family relocated to Chester, Penna. Husband of Pearl and father of Mamie, Annie, Joe, Barbara, Carrie, Craig and Calvin. Joe Latimer was known as "Mr. Latimer" to me and to those in the community. I spent a lot of time with the Latimer's in their home. Mr. Latimer would often tease me about his cake and ice cream. I can honestly say, I have never heard Mr. Latimer ever raise his voice, he was a very mild mannered human being. He was a good person. He was well liked, respected and known by everyone on the East Side of Chester. He helped to bring the family together on the family reunion bus rides, he always made sure everyone was okay. His Deceased brothers: Ozell Latimore and Emmanuel Latimore .
