Funeral services for Oswald Snider Carlton III, 77, of Richmond, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, 2006, at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. The Rev. John Shoemaker will officiate the services. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg.
Oswald was born March 8, 1929 in Houston to the late Oswald S. and Mary Lou (Edmundson) Carlton. He passed away Aug. 14, 2006 in Richmond.
Oswald was a U.S. Marine Reservist. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association. Oswald devoted his life to breeding and racing horses. He bred world champion Winalota Cash who won $1,953,000, winning the All-American Futurity in 1995. Oswald always started the day with his closest friends at the Old Briscoe Grocery Coffee Club.
Oswald is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Harriett Peckham.
He is survived by his wife, Norine Carlton; his children, O.S. Carlton IV and Stephanie Ann Carlton; his five grandchildren, Stephanie Carlton Porter, Oswald Carlton V, Houston Miles Carlton, Pamela Lynn Klein, and Ashley Nicole Carlton; his great-grandchildren, Jayden Camryn Porter and Danica Peyton Porter; his four nieces; and many other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Oswald Carlton V, Houston Miles Carlton, Larry Porter, Clyde Pikes, Luke Grazafi, and Terry Geick.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Oswald to the American Diabetes Association, Always & Forever Memorial & Honor Program, Houston Office, 2400 Augusta Dr., Suite 175, Houston, 77057.
