Ruth Doran Baldwin, wife of Nelson Bell Baldwin, of Richmond, formerly of Roanoke, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2006, in Richmond, Va. Ruth, the daughter of Walter Amos and Kate Blankenship Doran, was a former employee of Wiley N. Jackson Company. Besides her husband, she is survived by her son, Robert Nelson Baldwin and his wife, Sue of Richmond. Her grandson, Brent, and her granddaughter, Stephanie Herndon and her husband, William, and their son, Robert Grayson Herndon, all of Richmond, also survive her. Other survivors include her twin sister, Ruby D. Dunkley of Roanoke, her sister, Gertrude D. Smith of Newport News, her sister-in-law, Addie H. Manning of Roanoke; her niece, Sylvia D. Hedge of Roanoke, other nieces and nephews; and her godchildren, Billy Hedge and Sheri Carroll. Ruth was a longtime member of Belmont Baptist Church and it requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Belmont Baptist Church, 825 Stewart Ave., Roanoke, Va. 24013. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2006, from Oakey's North Chapel. Dr. Thomas S. Cribb will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237.
