Charley Melvin Dixon, 88, son of the late Jerry and Sarah Jane Dixon, was born in Yukon, Missouri, on March 21, 1885 and died October 21, 1973 in Manchester, Missouri.

He was united in marriage to Nora Chambers on August 26, 1906 and to this union ten children were born. One daughter Opal Harmon preceded him in death.

He is survived by seven sons, Marvin of Woodward, Iowa; Tilford of Houston, Missouri; Everett of Cody, Wyoming; Roscoe of Jefferson, Iowa; Roy of St. Louis, Missouri; Troy of Elk Creek, Missouri; and Wayne of Yukon, Missouri; two daughters, Ruby Cummins and Dorothy Stanley of St. Louis, Missouri; two brothers, Walter of Summersville, Missouri and Elmer of Houston, Missouri; two sisters, Emma Abrams of California and Bertie Medlock of Yukon, Missouri; 26 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

Mr. Dixon spent his lifetime in the Yukon community where he was a farmer. He had spent the last several years in the Houston area when his health began to fail.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 24, 1973 in Evans-Elliott Chapel, by the Rev. Robert Smith. Burial was in the Big Creek Cemetery.
