Eber L. Brown Passes Away---Another Guthrie pioneer passed over at six o'clock Monday morning, when death called Eber L. Brown, for eighteen years a resident and for fifteen years actively identified with the business interests of the city. The deceased had been a sufferer from Bright's disease the past two years. He was born and raised in Kansas and came here in the early days from Holton, Kansas. He lived on a farm near the city for two years and then moved to town. He was forty-nine years of age and an ardent member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. The deceased leaves a wife and five children: Mrs. J. A. McElhinney,of Guthrie: Mrs. J. H. McElhinney, of Arkansas City; Mrs. Al Hough, of Winfield: Miss Lillian Brown, and Frank Brown, of Ft. Smith, engineer on the Ft. Smith & Western. Mr Brown was a kindly man and loved and respected. He was an indulgent husband and father. The funeral services will take place from the late residence of the deceased at 508 East Noble, Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and will be in charge of the I.O.O.F. Lodge. Reb. Coleman will deliver the sermon. The burial will be at Summit View. All the children of the deceased were summoned and will arrive tonight. -- Guthrie Daily Leader, Dec. 18, 1911, pg1.
