From: "Dallas Center Times" September 23, 1920SOLDIER BOY BURIED SUNDAYThe body of Lawrence Hanlon, who died in France while a member of the A. E. F., was interred at the Catholic Cemetery Sunday afternoon with services fitting to one who had made the supreme sacrifice while in the service of his country.The body arrived in Des Moines Sunday morning and was taken from there overland to Waukee where the funeral was held from the Catholic Church at 3 o'clock, after which the body was brought to the Dallas Center Catholic cemetery for interment. The service was in charge of Rev. Father Shehee of Waukee and Rev. Father Larkin of Des Moines. Many of the Legion boys of Waukee, Adel and Dallas Center were in attendance.Lawrence passed away near Brest, France, on December 26, 1918, from influenza following a siege of measles. The body was interred in one of the national cemeteries near there.The funeral was very largely attended. The procession of motor cars was nearly a mile long.
