Barbara Berthold Martinson passed away on June 21, 2006 at Alden Courts of Waterford, Aurora, IL. She was born on February 26, 1919 to Albert Charles Berthold and Winifred Corlett Berthold.

Barbara was born and raised in Aurora, Illinois. She was a graduate of West Aurora High School. Her passions in life were her children and her grandchildren, her pets and horses. She enjoyed a long career at Copley Memorial Hospital as a department head until her retirement in 1979. She was interested in gardening, crafts, art and reading; and most especially, she loved all animals. She most enjoyed spending time with her family. Barbara was an avid horsewoman in her youth and rode professionally and successfully in many international horse shows. She rode show horses for others and rode her own horse, Dixie Lady.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Deborah (Clifford) Fox; and two beloved granddaughters, Tara Corlett Fox and Cassandra Louise Fox and Cassie's fiancé, Louis Daraban. She is also survived by a son, Michael (Kay) Martinson of North Aurora.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Charles Berthold and his wife, Cherry.

Interment at Spring Lake Cemetery will be private but there will be a celebration of her life at Alden Courts of Waterford, 1991 Randi Drive, Aurora, IL 60504, on Monday, July 3rd, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend this event. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to The Humane Society of the United States or to the Alzheimer's Association.
