Mary J. Bailey, 95, of Concordia, KS died Thursday, 30 Mar 2006. Mrs. Bailey was born Mary J. Gay, the daughter of Alex and Eugenie (Gennette) Gay on 2 Feb 1911 in Vining, KS. She worked as a special nurse for eight years for going to Chicago, IL as an obstetric nurse at Mercy Hospital in 1940. She returend to Concordia and worked for Dr. Starr and as a special-duty nurse in Clay Center, Ellsworth, Minneapolis, and Salina, all in Kansas, and in private homes. She moved to Topeka, KS to continue her work as an obstetric nurse at Stormont Hospital, then for Dr. Kennedy until her retirement in 1954. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and five sisters. Survivors include her husband, Glenn, of Concordia; a son, Aust of Windsor, CO; a brother, Albert Gay of of Kansas City, MO; and three grandchildren.
