Indiana Marriage Index, 1800-1941, records Thomas E. Clemmer married Elizabeth Spicer on 12 April 1871 in Johnson County.

1880 U. S. Census for Hensley Township, Johnson County:
Thomas E. Clemmer, 45; Wife, Elizabeth, 40; and Daughter, Ettie I. Clemmer, 3.

1900 U. S. Census for Hensley Township, Johnson County:
Thomas E. Clemmer, 61; Wife, Elizabeth, 59; Daughter, Iantha (Clemmer) Durman, 23; Son in Law, James Durman, 28.

Mrs. Elizabeth Clemmer, wife of Thomas E. Clemmer, died at her home March 16, 1909. She was the daughter of James and Sarah Spicer and was born in Johnson county, Dec. 14, 1840. When a girl she united with the Beech Grove Baptist church and has ever since been a member of the same.
On April 13, 1871, she was united in marriage to Thomas E. Clemmer. To this union was born one child, Mrs. Jas. F. Durman. She leaves a husband, one daughter, four grandchildren, two brothers and a host of friends to mourn their loss.

Indiana State Board of Health Certificate of Death No. 49 records Elizbeth Clemmer, a 68 years, 3 months, and 28-days-old married white female, died about 8 a.m. on 16 March 1909, due to "Chronic Neprhitis." She was the daughter of James Spicer, and Sarah Ruffin, both born in North Carolina. Richard Sallie was the informant. Burial was at Beech Grove Cemetery in Johnson County on 18 March 1909, D. C. Sprague of Trafalgar, undertaker.
