John Howard Ayers was the son of Maxie Williams and Ralph Thomas Ayers of the Mooresville community of Marshall County ( Lewisburg) Tennessee. He served in the United States Navy . He was the father of John Michael Ayers and Kenneth Howard Ayers.

Paternal Grandparents : Dora Jane Darnell (1872-1957) and John Newton Ayers (1871-1925) .

Maternal Grandparents : Josie Doss (1881-1964) and Virgil Q. Williams (1879-1965) .

Mr. Ayers was the founder and original owner of Southern Meter Service, an LP gas service business located in Nashville, Tennessee .

Mr. Ayers was a member of the Mooresville United Methodist Church in Marshall County, Tennessee.
