Cecile Faye Grove, 99, a resident of Evenglow Lodge, Pontiac, formerly of Heyworth and Downs, died at 2:50 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 23, 1997) at the lodge.

She was born March 10, 1898, in Weston, a daughter of Joseph and Ida Mae Maxwell Hanks. She married Clifford F. Grove May 24, 1923, in Carlock. He died Dec. 6, 1973.

Survivors include four grandchildren, Shirley Grove Webb's twins, Greg (Luann) Webb, Bloomington, and Gail (Rod) Brady Rockford; Bill Keller, St. Charles, Mo.; and Kathy (Steve) Hettick, Nine Mile Falls, Wash.; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Lynn Grove; a daughter, Shirley Grove Webb; and a grandson, Keith Lynn, who died with Shirley in 1958.

She was a member of the Downs United Methodist Church and a former member of the United Church of Heyworth, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She taught in the Lexington school system from 1918 to 1923. She taught her grandchildren to love nature, flowers and birds.

Mrs. Grove and her husband farmed in the Heyworth area for numerous years until retirement in 1960, and for the past 20 years has been a resident of Evenglow Lodge in Pontiac.

She was loved by all as Grammy.
