 James Burt was a very nice man, always calm. He and my father (also named James Burt) occasionally met in their careers, as both worked in the plastics industry. For those who want to learn more about the dramatic circumstances of his award, read about the battle for Aachen, when the US forces first crossed into Germany, and the German army desperately attempted to repulse the US forces. Germany realized the dire situation, and threw all available forces into the "Aachen Gap" against Burt and his regiment.
