Graveside services for Mr. John Norman Dove will be 3 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Rose-Neath Cemetery, 5185 Swan Lake Rd, Bossier City, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Terry Love. The family will receive friends prior to the graveside from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr, Bossier City, LA.
Mr. Dove was born in Hineston, LA February 9, 1915 and died June 12, 2014 in Shreveport, LA. Mr. Dove graduated from Forest Hill High School in 1932. He was very active in his life; he was Post Master in Kisatchie, LA from 1946 to 1949, a member of Masonic Lodge 379 in Kisatchie, LA, an honorary life-time member of Elks Lodge 222 in Shreveport, LA and a supervisor for Frymaster Corp. until he retired in 1980. A charter member of Fellowship United Methodist Church in Bossier City, he joined St. Luke's United Methodist Church when he moved to Shreveport. In his retirement he devoted his life to his church Upper Third, Senior Friends at the Elks Lodge, bingo, fishing, cooking out and working in his garden. He loved to have friends over for fish fries.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Amanda and George Dove; his first wife, Jewell Bowman Dove; brother, Herbert Dove; sisters, Edna Bowman and Annie Blevins and son-in-law, Tommy (W.T.) Lewis.
Mr. Dove is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Yvette R. Dove; daughters, Jeanette Dove Lewis, Monette and husband, Greg Smith, Sonja Howard; six grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Irene Bernard
