Ruth M. Blackert was born in Akron on February 4th 1920 to John and Marie Brogle. She was a devoted wife, mother grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed being with her family.
Her hobbies all of her life were playing cards/games, reading, gambling (many trips to Las Vegas), and fishing.
She experienced many changes in her lifetime- Model A Fords, advent of refrigeration, depression, World War II (with Husband and Family in the action), Vietnam (with children in the action), kids, grandkids, and great grandkids - a full life filled with many beautiful memories.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, William A. Blackert, 2 sisters, and 2 brothers.
She is survived by her sons, Bill & Chris Blackert of Fort Mill, SC, Bob & Fran Blackert of Beaver Creek, OH, Don & Natalie Blackert of Amity, PA; and daughter, Cathy & Roger Shankland of Norton, OH; grandchildren, Jyl Shirley, Bill (Nanci) Blackert, Laurie (Jeff) Hamlin, Bob (Sarah) Blackert, Reggie Shankland, Casie (Keith) Svonovec, Mike Blackert, Rusty Shankland, Carli (Nishant) Desai, Austin Blackert, Jenna Blackert, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 brother, John Brogle, in FL.
Friends may call at the Bacher Funeral Home 3250 Greenwich Rd. Norton on Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 10 - 12p.m. with a funeral service at 12 noon, Rev. James F. Kramer officiating.
