Stella Mae Barnett, 87, of Gassaway went home to be with the Lord February 27, 2009. She was born in Richwood on September 5, 1921, a daughter of the late Joe and Lona Dodrill Cornwell.
She was a Baptist, a charter member, and a volunteer for Braxton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary with 25 years and 10,500 hours of service. She was also a member of TOPS.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband, Howard Lee Barnett; brother, Russell Cornwell; and two sisters, Letha Riffle and Lennia Smallwood.

Stella was survived by her loving daughter, Goldie Loretta Barnett Schiefer of Gassaway; son Dana Golden Barnett of Tierra Verde, Fla.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral service is being held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton with the Rev. Mike Hoover officiating. Burial will be in Barnett Cemetery near Sutton. Friends may call Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
