Bernice M. Davis of Newburgh, a homemaker and lifelong resident of the area, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999, at home. She was 79. The daughter of Frank and Edna Dayton, she was born Dec. 9, 1919, in Cornwall. She was the widow of Ralph W. Davis. She was a member of the Womens Auxiliary of VFW and Cootiettes and Club 60, both in Newburgh. Survivors include two daughters, Rosemarie Cannon of Monticello and Bridget Vega of Tampa, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Bridget Vega, Victoria Camacho, Bridget Cannon, Walter Cannon Jr., Ralph Cannon, Joseph Martinez and George Martinez; 13 great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one daughter, Loretta Battista. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at Doulin Newburgh Funeral Home, 318 N. Montgomery St., Newburgh. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at the funeral home. The Rev. Lori Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Orange, 800 Stony Brook Ct., Newburgh, N.Y. 12550."
