TOCCOA, Ga. — Miss Ora Irene Landis, 87, of Route 4, died Thursday at a local nursing home.


Born in Philadelphia, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Irwin Mohr and Sophia Hammel Landis. She was a graduate magna cum laude from Whitworth College in Spokane, Wash., and received her master's degree from the University of Washington. She was an instructor in English and Greek at Toccoa Falls College for 38 years, and was a member of Christian Missionary Alliance Church. She had made her home with the Rev. and Mrs. Troy Damron of Toccoa for the past three years, and was the last member of her immediate family.


Services at 2 p.m. Monday at Hillcrest Chapel, Acree-Davis Funeral Home by Dr. Paul Alford, John McCarthy and James Rich. Burial in Toccoa City Cemetery.


The body is at the funeral home where friends will be received from 4-5:30 p.m. Sunday, and will be placed in the chapel at 1:30 p.m. Monday.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Toccoa Falls College.
