UPDATE: Mar. 3

Tator Tot (Mouseykins) went to the rainbow bridge tonight about 7:00pm

She wasnt doing very good today. She wont let me hold her and squeaked real loud when i try to pet her. She wouldnt drink or eat and i tryed to get her to but she just turned away. I prayed either the Lord heal her or take her quick, so she didnt suffer.

Thank you to anyone who prayed for her. It touchs my heart to know you care.

She may be small but is a big part of our hearts.

Our sweet little Tator Tot.

My husband and oldest son found her when they were at my mothers in laws in the shed. They turned on the table saw and something flew out of it and when they looked, it was a week old baby wild mouse. Pink with gray peach fuzz and eyes still closed. They picked her up and she wasnt hurt from the saw. So they put her over in a corner so they wouldnt step on her. They went bout mowing grass etc. Later that day they went back to the shed and she was still there and laying in sawdust. Her mother had abandaned her. They brought her home in a empty coffee can and gave her to me to care for. We looked on the internet to see how. We put soft cloth in the bottom of the can and put in on a heating pad set on low to keep her warm. I fed her every few hours warm can kitten milk with a eyedropper and used a warm damp q-tip to make her go potty. Even in the middle of the night, for a few weeks til she could eat soft foods. My daughter Angel would take care of her while i wasnt home. We named her Tator Tot because she looked like she might have been the runt of the litter and thats why her mom left her.
One day a week later i went to feed her and she wasnt moving or breathing. I called to Angel thinking Tator Tot was dead. Angel got a coffee stirrer like a straw and put it in Tator Tots mouth and gently breathed in it, while i rubbed Tators chest. Kinda like mousey cpr. With Gods help, she started moving and breathing again.
I was the 1st person she saw when she opened her eyes and she knew my smell. Because when i was weaning her off her milk, she would sniff the air when i put my hand in the cage and run and jump in my hand to cuddle and be petted. She grew and we put her in a aquarium to live. She had a wheel she loved to run in and toilet paper tubes to play in and a new cardboard box every week with a hole in front and in back to sleep in and with toilet paper to make a nest with in it. She was a sweetie and to her i was mommy. She also felt Angel was her 2nd mommy. She loved cuddling in my hand and being petted and knew my voice and would jump on the inside of the screen lid like spiderman to see me.
Her favorite foods were applesauce, bananas, cooked carrots and peas. She loved mac and cheese and fruit. For special treats she liked bites of cinnamon toast, cheese pizza, and cake or muffins and cereal and milk. She was spoiled and loved people food but also loved her seeds, especially sunflower seeds.
One day last summer, i had put her in a carrying cage to change her bigger one and she was on the kitchen table and Tiger our cat knocked the cage to the floor. The lid flew open and out she ran. I tryed to grab her while someone grabed Tiger and Tux our cats. Finely got her behind a kitchen china cabinet. That was a scary adventure for all us.
Recently i thought she was gaining weight. But i was changing her cage yesterday and when i picked her up, i noticed it wasnt weight. She had tumors on both her sides and when she went potty, there was some blood. Theres nothing a vet can do for her and i dont think she will last through the night. We are heartbroken.

She might be only a mouse to others, but to us shes loved by our family and she loves us too.
