Chris' folks came to Michigan in 1862 and settled in Grass Lake Jackson Co Michigan. Chris and his sisters moved to Chicago for the Chicago Worlds Fair. His sister Mary opened a restaurant by the stock yards and Chris was a cook. He met his future wife Barbara Karl who was a waitress at the restaurant. Chris married Barbara Karl in Chicago, IL in 22 Sept 1897 and lived on their farm in Grass Lake, MI. Was a farmer and then a police officer.
