I think the inscription on the headstone he shares with his father Abel actually reads "Age 27 Year", which would mean he died in 1848. This would also mean he lived long enough to father his only child, Newton Augustus Wilder, whose birthdate of 1848 has several sources (census, Civil War pension).
Also, George's birthplace turns out to be Walpole, MA and his birthdate should read 29 Dec per the Walpole, MA town vital collections, which name him and both his parents using that date. I don't believe it's a baptism date as it's listed specifically as a record of his birth as are the other entries on that page and the adjoining page.
