Lendall Ward Williams October 11, 1929 ~ April 1, 2012 Pacific Grove - Lendall "Len" Williams, a native of St. Louis, MO, passed away peacefully at his home on April 1. A Peninsula resident since 1943, he was a graduate of Pacific Grove High School, Class of 1948, and attended Monterey Peninsula College. Following his service in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, Len was an auto mechanic for 20 years and then had a second career as a Metropolitan Insurance Company agent for another 20 years. Len was a member of: Life Underwriters; the American Legion - Post 591; Monterey Moose Lodge;and a board member of the Pacific Grove High School Alumni Association. He was a gifted guitarist and banjo player who loved playing with the band, Bye Bye Blues Boys, at many local events, including Pacific Grove's "Good Old Days" and "First Night" of Monterey. Len was a past president, treasurer, and a valued member of the Monterey Hot Jazz Society. He particularly enjoyed performing at the Sally Griffin Senior Center as well as at many local residential facilities. Len is survived by Shirley, his wife of 62 years, and his three daughters: Mrs. Shelley Webber of San Angelo, Texas; Mrs. Brenda Selsor of San Jose; and Mrs. Peggy Ann Crotti of Hemet. He also leaves behind his brother, Robert Williams of Bend, OR; seven grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren. A devoted husband, father and musician, he will be greatly missed. Funeral services will take place at the First United Methodist Church of Pacific Grove this Monday, April 9 at 11:00 AM, followed by burial at El Carmelo Cemetery.
