John H. Howlett, 86, formerly of McGrann, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002 in the Vincentian Nursing Home, Pittsburgh. He was born March 5, 1916 in Applewold to Harry and Pearl (Shaffer) Howlett. Mr. Howlett was a scratch wheeler for PPG Industries, Ford City, retiring after 38 years. He was a member of the Appleby Manor Presbyterian Church. He was a past member of the Manor Township Lions Club and a past volunteer for Armstrong County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and United Way. He lived in McGrann for most of his life. Survivors include three sons, John E. Howlett of Belle Vernon, Larry J. Howlett of Pittsburgh and Dennis C. Howlett of Ford City; and two grandsons, John E. Howlett and Joshua A. Howlett. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Mary Margaret (Wyant) Howlett, who died Nov. 13, 1999. HOWLETT - Friends of John H. Howlett, 86, formerly of McGrann, who died Aug. 31, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Bauer Funeral Home, 515 N. McKean St., Kittanning, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Carl A. Johnson officiating. Entombment will be in the Lawn Haven Mausoleum, East Franklin Township.
