Jeffery A. DeHaven, 57 of Warren passed away at 5:56 pm on Tuesday, September 17, 2013. Jeff was a 1974 graduate of Huntington North High School. He worked at PHD for 32 years. He was a volunteer coach for all recreational league sports in Warren. He was an avid bowler, golfer and enjoyed taking kids and grand kids to karate. He was an avid Colts Fan and went to games regularly. He loved spending time with his family and was a loving father and grandfather.

Jeff was born on February 15, 1956 in Huntington County, a son of Howard L. and Donna J. (Wardwell) DeHaven.

He was united in marriage to Jill Carroll on June 6, 1981 in Huntington. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include his parents: Howard and Donna DeHaven of Warren; a son: Matthew DeHaven of Warren; a daughter: Crystal (Jason) Nightenhelser of Warren; two sisters: Gloria (Mike) Surfus of Warren; Sherry (John) Hanley of Fort Wayne; mother-in-law: Emily J. Carroll of Huntington; five grandchildren and three nieces.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Randy DeHaven.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 from 1:00 – 5:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made out to P.A.L. Football or Rainbow Lanes Youth Bowling League or Oak Lanes Youth Bowling League in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.

A man driving a car who was killed in a collision with a combine Tuesday evening in Huntington County has been identified.

Jeffery A. DeHaven, 57, of the Warren area, died from his injuries, according to the Huntington County Coroner's Office.

About 5 p.m., the combine was headed north on Meridian Road when it pulled into the path of the car, which was going west on U.S. 24, the sheriff's department said.

The combine dragged the car across the westbound lane, and the vehicles came to rest north of the intersection.

The combine driver, William Reed, 83, of Huntington, was not hurt.

The crash remains under investigation.
