Ann Boyer Pearson of Delray Beach, Florida, passed away on February 22, 2006. She was born on September 8, 1942, in Aurora, Illinois.She attended Mary A. Todd School and graduated from West Aurora Senior High School in 1960 where she was a class officer, a member of the National Honor Society, and received numerous honors as a student, musician, athlete, and respected leader among her peers. Ann then went on to attend Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri where she received many honors and was one of the first women to graduate from Washington University's highly-acclaimed School of Architecture. After graduating, Ann worked for various architectural firms in the Chicago area before opening her interior design business in 1970. She practiced in the Chicago area, Dallas, and Delray Beach, Florida. Although her main focus and passion was residential space design and furniture selection, she also worked on numerous commercial projects, including renovations of buildings on the national historic register. Among other projects, Ann planned space and consulted on art selection for the executive offices of the Swan and Dolphin hotels on the Disney properties in Orlando, Florida, and the Crystal Palace Hotel and Casino in the Bahamas. However, her major accomplishment was creating an atmosphere of comfort and warmth for her family and friends at her homes in Illinois, Texas, Florida and her beloved Door County Wisconsin. Ann was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Delray Beach, a past member of the Delray Beach Community Appearance Board, and a past officer and member of the Delray Beach Chorale. Ann was the past president of the Pi Beta Phi alumni club and was an active member of P.E.O. International.She is preceded in death by her parents, Neil A. Boyer and Grace Hill Boyer of Aurora, Illinois.She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Thomas N. Pearson, of Delray Beach; and her son, Thomas N. Pearson and his wife Anne Marie Hampshire of Austin, Texas.Ann was known by her friends and loved ones as a gracious, classy, and tenacious person whose ability to rise above any obstacles she encountered was an inspiration to her family, friends, and business associates.A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Delray on February 26, 2006 at 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Steeple Fund of the First Presbyterian Church Delray Beach, Florida at 33 Gleason St., Delray Beach, Florida, or the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America at 386 Park Avenue South, 17th Floor, New York, NY 10016.LORNE & SONS FUNERAL HOME, Delray Beach, in charge of arrangements.
