Officer John Verbanaz, DSN3103, was commissioned as a St. Louis Police Officer on 06/30/1958 and entered the police academy. After graduating from the academy he served in the following Districts and Specialized Division's through out his career. They were the 12Th, 7Th, Traffic Safety Division (T.S.D.), Identification Section, Career Criminal Grant Section, and the Criminal Justice Liaison Section as an Investigator at the Circuit Attorney's Office (C.A.O.). When Officer Verbanaz retired on 07/05/1988, he had completed 30.02 years of faithful and dedicated service to the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department. Officer Verbanaz was also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served during the Korean conflict and awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received due to enemy action.

Beloved husband of Juanita E. Verbanaz (nee McClure); dear father of Mark (Gail) Verbanaz, Linda (Dale) Schmidt, Matt (Kim) Verbanaz, Dan Verbanaz, Mary Verbanaz, Teresa Krenning and Cindy (Eric) Gottschlich; our dear grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle and friend.

Services: Funeral from KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. Tuesday, August 27, 9 a.m. to Immaculate Conception Church (Arnold) for 9:30 a.m. Mass. Visitation Monday 4-9 p.m.

Interment National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contribu tions to the Backstoppers, or the Wounded Warrior Project appreciated. Visitation Monday 4-9 p.m.
