Juan de Los Reyes Chavez, 98, of Cerro passed away on July 30, 2005. He was a devoted member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and Hermano de La Morada de Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno in Cerro. He is preceded in death by his parents, Desidero and Gregorita Chavez, sisters and brother, Maclovia Mares, Teresita DeHerrera, Tomasita Vigil, Flavio Chavez and grandson, Melvin Chavez. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Delfinia Chavez, children, Ernesto Chavez (Dulcinia) of Bosque, Gloria Visarraga (Paul), Joe D. Chavez (Socorro), Rebecca Chavez, Francisco Chavez (Manuela) all of Santa Fe, Eligio Chavez of Cerro, Ruben Chavez (Donna) of San Idelfonso, niece and nephew he raised, Claudio Martinez of Salida, CO and Leonila Garcia of Center, CO. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren
Rosary was recited on August 02, 2005. Funeral mass was held on August 03, 2005. Both services were held Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Cerro. Interment was held at Cerro Cemetery.
