American cartoonist, humorist, and columnist. Hershfield started his career at the age of 14, drawing sports cartoons and a comic strip about a dog, Homeless Hector. In addition to his cartooning, he was a columnist for the New York Daily Mirror. He was also known as a skilled toastmaster, and was one of the most sought after masters of ceremony in the United States.
