Samuel Charles Baird, 87, of 210 West McMurray Road, Canonsburg, died at his home Monday, December 4, 1961, at 2:40 p.m.

A son of Thomas and Martha Wilson Baird, he was born March 30, 1874, in Peters Township and spent his entire life there. Mr. Baird was the oldest living member of the Centre Presbyterian Church.

He was married April 4, 1895, to May Fife. Mr. and Mrs. Baird celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1945. Mrs. Baird died August 27, 1952.

Surviving are three children, Jennie, wife of Walter Lushen, Sugar Camp Road, Peters Township; Harriett, at home, and Raymond, Centre Church Road, Peters Township; two grandchildren, Mrs. Harold Rothaar and Charles L. Baird, and two great-grandchildren.

Also, from the same issue, page 20 - friends of Samuel C. Baird, 210 West McMurray Road, Canonsburg, who died Monday, December 4, 1961, will be received at the Griffith Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Services will be held there Thursday, December 7, at 1 p.m. in charge of Rev. Joseph R. Rogers, pastor of Centre Presbyterian Church. Interment in the church cemetery.
