Edna Elizabeth Scronce Norman, 80, of Hopewell Road in Morganton died Thursday April 1, 1999 at Grace Heights following a brief illness.
The funeral was held on Saturday April 3, 1999 at Salem United Methodist Church and was conducted by the Rev. Donald Freshour. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Born March 20, 1919 in Lincoln County, Mrs. Norman retired as manager of the laundry from Broughton Hospital in 1981 after 38 years of employment. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women and was a member of the Sally Powell Sunday School class.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lee & Hattie Payseur Scronce, her husband, James Henry Norman and one brother Hubert Scronce.
Surviving are one daughter, Lynda Norman Woody and her husband Joe Woody, grandchildren, Heather Woody and Eric Woody & his wife Patricia all of Morganton; four brothers, Earl Scronce, Bill Scronce and Jerry Scronce all of Lincolnton and Boyd Scronce of Cherryville and one sister Ruby Chapman of Crouse, NC.
At other times the family will be at the residence of Joe and Lynda Woody, 1631 Hopewell Road in Morganton. Memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, 1206 Salem Road, Morganton, NC 28655 or to Hospice of Burke County, PO Box 1029, Valdese, NC 28690.
