Eileen Dorothy (Stopher) Bishop, 90, Red Oak, Iowa, formerly of Mitchell, died Friday, June 21, 2013, at Good Samaritan Society.

She was born on July 7, 1922.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ethan. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Ethan.

Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel, Red Oak, is in charge of arrangements.

Eileen was born in Ethan, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Wieland) Stopher. She was the last surviving of 12 children.

She graduated from Mitchell High School and worked many years for the City of Mitchell before retiring and moving to Red Oak to be near her family.

Eileen enjoyed gardening, playing cards, working crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles, playing Bingo, sewing, baking and was an avid reader. She was also an outdoors person. She loved to go for walks and spent many hours fishing.

Eileen was always a caregiver, whether it was helping out her Acorn Acres friends or spending time with her family and grandkids. She treasured those times.

Survivors include her children: Ted Turgeon and Jerry Kay Stocksleger, Omaha, Neb.; Jane Hansen and husband Craig, Griswold, Iowa; Mary Peeler and husband Larry, Tampa, Fla; and Maxine "Mikki" Bollack and husband Jim, Ethan; grandchildren: Heidi DiGiacomo, Red Oak; Beth, Brandi, Anne and Ben Bollack, Ethan; Heather Cunningham and husband Dale, Mitchell; and Matthew Peeler, Tampa, Fla.; Rebecca Hansen and husband Chris, Denver; and Brian and Sean Barnes, Rapid City; great-grandchildren: Sydney DiGiacomo, Red Oak; Destiny and Hannah Strait, Mitchell; and Alaina Eileen Peeler, Tampa; and many other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, 11 brothers and sisters: Harry Stopher, Thelma Quick, Ruby Wermers, Mildred Reuschlein, Ethel Stopher, George Stopher, Pearl Stopher, Catherine Olsen, Clara Johnson, Frances Rogge and James Stopher; a son: Thomas Barnes; and grandchildren: Lily Roach and Rebecca Maier.
