Funeral service for Ida Mae Davis of Emmetsburg was Monday, May 11, at the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. David A. Morris officiated.

Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Davis died Friday, May 8, 2009, at PARC Hall in Emmetsburg, at age 101.

Ida Mae Davis, daughter of James and Estella Carter Wiley, was born July 1, 1907, on a farm near Farson, Iowa, in Wapello County. She attended country school and graduated from Batavia High School in 1926.

On July 3, 1926, Ida Mae and Roy Martin Davis were married. Ida Mae was employed at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield where she was a nurse’'s aide. She continued her employment as a nurse'’s aide at Palo Alto County Hospital where she worked for many years before her retirement.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg and of Church Circle. Ida Mae was a member of the Palo Alto County Hospital Auxiliary.

Surviving are two sons, a daughter-in-law, nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy; a son, Wayne Davis; grandson, John Davis; two sisters, Della Ingraham and Ethel Frome; and a brother, Loren Wiley.
